City Sunset

Several of my friends get together a few times each semester to go to the top of one of the parking structures on campus and watch the sunset. I've never been able to join them but a couple weeks ago I had to park on the top level of one of the structures and I got out of class just as the sun was setting over the city. It was one of those rare occasions when I didn't have to be anywhere right away, so I sat on the hood of my car and took some photos.

Much as I miss living in the country, I'm learning more and more each day to notice the beauty in the city, too :)

Photo of the Week

This photo of double rainbows was taken several years ago on our parents' property, just after we'd planted over 700 blueberry bushes!

Photo(s) of the Week

The sunsets in Northern California during the first several weeks of 2012 were absolutely breathtaking. A few weeks ago I was driving back to Sacramento from my parents' place and this sunset made me gasp. So I decided I should pull to the side of the road and take some photos. Some of these were taken on a country road near my parents' place and the last two were taken on some property my grandfather owns in Galt. I would have liked to take more pictures there, but I was a little nervous about being there on my own - especially after I saw a strange man running across one corner of the field!

Three years ago, the hubs and I honeymooned in Maui. This picture is making me miss the islands!

Photo of the Week

It rained hard during most of my drive down to SoCal several weeks ago. At one of our gas station stops, however, we saw this rainbow in the sky. It was an auspicious beginning to our SoCal adventures!

Photo of the Week

A friend and I drove down to Southern California for Veteran's Day weekend. On the way down, we saw a lot of cotton bales along I-5, something neither of us had ever seen before, but knew instantly when we did. When we got to our hotel room, I wrote a Haiku about it:

Driving to SoCal
Cotton bales fresh harvested
Lining the highway

Check back this afternoon for more pictures from our trip!

Photo of the Week

It's been rainy and cold for the last few days here. These pictures remind me that fall is still a beautiful time of year, even when it isn't sunny outside. I hope you have a cozy Monday!

Photo of the Week

My mom and I got back to California on Saturday after going to Arizona to drop my middle brother off at college. This is one of many pictures I snapped of clouds while we were there. Though the landscape is stark and unvarying, the Arizonian sky is anything but! If I never did anything except watch the sky there, I would still find it fascinating!

Photo of the Week

I snapped this photo a few weeks ago when my younger sister was on a trail ride with one of her friends. My mom and I wanted to go for a walk, so we simply walked along the trail behind them. It was a gorgeous, sunny day, with abnormally cool temperatures for Northern California.
